EU15 Registers Deficit in Services Trade in First Quarter of 2002

The European Union 15 countries registered an services trade deficit of 0.3 billion euro in the first quarter of 2002 according to Eurostat, the EU statistics office. In the first quarter of 2001 the EU 15 had register a deficit of 3.0 billion euro and a surplus of 1.4 billion euro in the fourth quarter of 2001.
The EU15 external current account recorded a surplus of 0.1 billion euro in the first quarter of 2002, as compared with a deficit of 18.8 billion euro in the first quarter of 2001 and a surplus of 6.8 billion euro in the fourth quarter of 2001.
